Community Service Committee

The work done by the Community Service Committee is the public face of Rotary in our local community, aiming to help local needs by providing practical and financial assistance to both groups and individuals.

The programme includes two narrow-boat trips from Brewood to Wheaton Aston for groups of disabled people each year.

In September almost the entire club will be involved in helping people who have difficulty walking to enjoy a preview of the Walsall Illuminations in the Arboretum.

Tuesday 26th November is the date of the Elderly and Disabled Persons Evening to be held at Queen Mary's Grammar School, where the committee will organise the provision of food, drink and entertainment for 200 elderly people -- many of whom look on the event as the high point of their year. This is another event which involves input from many Rotarians.

We hope to be supporting the District Community Day Out at Trentham Gardens and the Kids Day Out at Drayton Manor Park.

The committee has recently organised a Minibus Awareness Course and five members have now been approved by the Local Authority to drive their minibuses. The Committee will be reviewing its list of Christmas charity donations to ensure that funds continue to be put to best use. We try to make sure that our charitable donations go to improve the lot of disadvantaged groups and individuals in our area.
